Sun care for the skin

Who doesn’t want to enjoy a healthy tan? Sun care is essential to keep the skin healthy and protect it from damage caused by the sun. The right sun care products are available for every skin type, offering different levels of sun protection and also products that help maintain your tan.

Protective skin care comes in various textures that shield against the harmful rays of the sun. There are classic sunscreens, oils, sprays, gels, and lotions with different sun protection factors. There are also special sunscreens for children, designed to protect their delicate skin particularly well.

What does the sun protection factor mean?

The sun protection factor (SPF) on a sunscreen indicates how much longer you can stay in the sun without getting sunburned. Every skin type has a natural protection time before the skin starts to redden. With the help of sunscreen, this time can be extended before redness begins. To calculate your individual protection time, multiply your natural protection time by the SPF indicated on your sun care product.

An SPF up to 10 provides low protection, up to SPF 25 medium protection, SPF 30 and above high protection, and SPF 50 and above very high protection. The duration of a sunscreen’s effectiveness also depends on factors such as sweating, swimming, towel-drying, and how generously the product has been applied.

Sun care after sun exposure

After spending the whole day in the sun, it’s important to care for your skin thoroughly. While daytime sun care focuses on protecting against UV rays, evening care should aim to hydrate the skin and prolong your tan. Creams and lotions specifically formulated for after-sun use are ideal for this purpose. For those who want to extend their summer glow or maintain a sun-kissed look all year round, self-tanning products are the perfect choice.
