Sassoon Professional was founded in 1974 in London by the famous hairdresser Vidal Sassoon. The outstanding hairdresser Vidal Sassoon was born in London in 1928 and entered the hair business rather by chance. As a "shampoo boy“ he washed hair to contribute to his family’s income.
Soon, however, he realized that he started to develop a passion for hair care. Shortly afterwards Vidal Sasson took part in hairdressing competitions and later opened up his own salon. He invented the systemic haircut which made him internationally renown. At that time the Sassoon Professional hair care products were available only in Sassoon hairdressing salons. Since 1977 the products have been available outside the salons in the US for professionals.
